Wow, that time flew by

Posted on

Hard to believe that Christmas is over.  Had a wonderful time with my family, celebrating the birth of Jesus.

The girls were spoiled by everyone as always.  Well, they probably don’t thinks so but they were.

Back into the groove of school I think.  Report cards for the second quarter came home last Friday.  T seems to be doing well in Kindergarten.  She still doesn’t want to go many days….she says it’s boring because they don’t get to play enough.

P had straight A’s (it’s second grade….come on)  and I had an email from her teacher this week informing us that she was choosen as the student in her class to receive the 2nd quarter Collossians 3:23 award.  Shhhh, it’s a surprise to the student, she will find out at a pep assembly on the 27th.

A….well, she’s had better cards.  She got her lowest report card grade ever (so far) this quarter.  She got a B- in Pre-Algebra.  That said, when I look at the score for the class, she had an 85.57, she would have needed an 86 for a B.  The grading scale is tight!  I’m anxious to see how she starts off this quarter.   Not only does she still have basketball but now she also has the middle school musical.  She auditioned for a role in Aladdin Jr and is one of the Narrators.  She might actually do better with more on her plate because she gets her homework DONE now, she doesn’t have time to play around while “doing” her homework.

P & T are also participating in Upward Cheerleading for the next few weeks.  Busy times around here.  OK, what’s new.

Me…..just dreaming of the day that we are completely debt free.  So close, only have the mortgage now.  Credit cards are cut up…destroyed, never to make their way back into our lives.  Cars are REALLY high mileage but running well and both PAID for so those aren’t going anywhere unless we HAVE to.  DH continues to grow the ATPClothing.com business and I’ll keep on working until I can also go to work for us.

OK, I am tired and therefore rambling…..so, I will leave it at that and perhaps ramble some more tomorrow or Thursday!

DONE!

I honestly think that this is the earliest I have EVER been done wrapping gifts. Seriously. Only because I finished shopping earlier than normal.

See, I am NOT one of those people who can wrap as I buy. I have 3 girls. I have to get it as even as possible and that means I have to buy and wrap after all is purchased. I must be able to see what everyone has before one single thing gets wrapped. Am I a control freak? VERY possible. What about you?

Tis the season

Shopping is 98 percent done. Working on food ideas for family get togethers. And most importantly, talking with the girls each evening about the TRUE meaning of Christmas. Love to hear it in their words.

It snowed!

The first snow of the season here today. HUGE snowball size flakes. It really was beautiful. Made me wish I was living in a more temperate region and going to VISIT the snow though. As I get older, I find more and more that I do NOT like the cold. Period. So, it has snowed officially. Can we now declare it spring and move on?

Change of season = sick household

Or really, I should say sick Momma.  I’m normally the one to not get sick. Or at least be able to push through it to take care of everyone else.  This time….I slept.  And slept.  And slept some more.  I came home from work early, slept…still had a bit of a temp the next morning and slept most of the day away.  But, back to work the next day….no temp so I am a bit stubborn like that.  Then a conference on Friday.  So, I have had a cough the entire time (started last Wednesday).  And I COMPLETELY lost my voice over the weekend.  That is serious y’all, I MUST talk.  :)   Still have a nagging cough today but feel good. Now my hubby on the other hand….he decided to run a temp yesterday himself.  Today he slept in but now seems fine.  Not fair–he is not coughing and can still talk.  *pout*

So, how long and in what order do you think the girls will get it?  Tori already has a bit of a cough….she will be first…or that is all she will get hopefully.

Wish us luck!

Fall is here

I think that we can safely put the shorts and tanks away. And that we SHOULD because my princesses want to keep wearing them no matter what the weather looks like! Fall is officially here. The clocks “Fall Back” this weekend. (and YES, I really, really dislike those clock changes)

I shot some pictures of my kiddos with my new camera last weekend. I didn’t do too bad of a job. Unfortunately, I was missing one child. SO…I may possibly try to take the girls out tomorrow morning and do some more. Of course we have to go after Upward Cheerleading orientation (the 2 little girls) and before it is time to take them to Grandma for the night. Yep, DATE NIGHT with my wonderful hubby! Sunday looks like it will be packed as well. Church (finalist candidate for the Sr Pastor position will be speaking) and then Alexa’s first basketball game of the season in the afternoon.

It’s going to be a GREAT weekend

Once upon a time

This would have been the first Monday after the Fall clock change.  And thirteen years ago, that clock change and different position of the sun affected SO many lives.  The truck driver who has to live with the horror of not being able to stop, the husband of 32 years who was the first responder at the scene, the granddaughter who wouldn’t be born for another 4 months, the son who really needed her support, the son-in-law who had to break the news, the siblings & families, the friends. And me….a daughter without her mom when I needed her most, as I was preparing to be a mom myself.

The young man driving the semi said he noticed her with her hand and arm up, like you would do to block the sun from your eyes. I guess it didn’t work, she pulled onto the highway anyway. And then she was gone…(10/26/1998)

Ridiculously long update

I’ll apologize in advance, sorry for the length of this one.  My fault for letting WAY too much time slip without blogging.

All 3 of my girls ran track this summer with the local USATF affiliated track club.  We decided to get Tori a singlet and let her practice with her sisters since she was hanging out at the track while they practiced and Matt coached.  She, Piper and Alexa competed in some local meets here in town.  Alexa also competed in the USATF Jr Olympics.  She ran at the State level and advanced to Regional level in both the 800 meter and 15oo meter.  At Regionals (near Chicago), she advanced to the National meet in the 800 meters.  She worked SOOOO hard and accomplished her goal of advancing in that particular race.  Nationals were held in Wichita this year…..in 110+ degree heat.  Not her best race but what a marvelous experience for her, running at the USATF Jr Olympic NATIONAL meet!

That really was most of our summer, practices and meets……

Oh, I suppose it was a completely new type of summer for the kids.  Since my husband has been working from home, the girls didn’t go to summer day camp.  They were able to stay home during the day with him.  Now, whether that was good or bad was a day by day opinion.  LOL.  The older 2 girls were used to going to summer day camp with a lot of friends from school and LOTS of activities and outings.  Some days they said they were beyond bored and missing their friends.  Let me tell you though, they did NOT object to sleeping in!

The week after nationals (which also happened to be the week before school started), we finally headed out on vacation.  We rented a house in Gulf Shores, AL (Ft Morgan area actually).  We drove down with our 3 girls and a good friend of Alexa’s (since preschool!).  Had a wonderfully relaxing time.  LOTS of time on the beach, the house was in a subdivision right on the beach so we had plenty of sand and surf with very few people to share it with!  The girls went on their first ferry ride and got a little education at the Estuarium at Dauphin Island.  But mostly, they had plenty of sand and sea and togetherness.

We had a few days back at home and then it was back to school.  All 3 girls are now in school.  My baby girl started Kindergarten!  Cross Country season has come and gone with Alexa running (and developing some leadership skills as one of the older girls) and Matt coaching again this year.  Basketball season has now started for Alexa and the little girls brought home forms for Upward basketball & Cheer (both want to cheer).

Report cards just came home for the first grading quarter.  They were all 3 really good, looks like they got off to a good start!

Me, just keep getting up, going to work, chasing kids, trying to make it all work!  Life is good!

Really? Has it been that long

I wish I could blame not posting here on something but I can’t. It is just me. I am sure I could make the time. I should make the time. Heck, I should make the time for a lot of other things too. But instead, I let myself get caught up in so many other things. Work, kids, kids activities, social media, church…..I need to work on balance, on trying to make the most of the time I have.  I honestly need to focus less on a couple area and far more on some others.  Baby steps right?

OK, so on that note, I’m going to publish this and then recap the summer for anyone interested.  But that’s a separate post.  :)
