On to Regionals!

Posted on

Looks like a trip to Chicago-land in about 3 weeks. My oldest daughter ran 2 events at the Indiana Jr Olympic meet and qualified for the Region 7 meet in both. She placed 7th in the 1500 and she took 3rd in the 800. Even better, she set a new personal record in both.

The little girls decided not to go with us to Indy for the meet. They WILL be going with us to Plainfield IL though. Might be interesting! Especially coming back as it is going to be LATE getting back on a Sunday night. Oh, and I HAVE to work the next day. Already have a couple people off on that Monday. I can sleep in the car coming home right? :) Looking forward to it in spite of the lack of sleep that I know will come with it. Oh, and I better get myself in gear and get my new DSLR before then! Want some GOOD shots!

Up, getting ready for work. Everyone else in this house is sleeping. What I REALLY want to do at this very moment is snugly in bed with my little girls.

Summer Track

Posted on

So, all three girls decided they wanted to participate in the local USATF summer track club this summer. They practice 3 nights a week from 530 to 730. Hubby is coaching the long jump kids and helping in other areas. I could be heading home after work and enjoying the quiet. However, I have been choosing to take shorts and shoes to work with me and go out to the high school where they are practicing. And walk, or something. Friday, while kids were on the track, I walked around the school a few times. Tonight…..stairs, plenty of stairs. Still not as much as I should be doing (stay close so I can steer the 5 year old back to the track after her many “bathroom” breaks) but it’s more than just coming home to enjoy the quiet. I know me, that would equal something on Netflix!
This weekend is the USATF Jr Olympic State meet. Only our oldest is competing in it though. The little girls have opted to stay with my aunt rather than go to Noblesville. hmmmm, can’t say that I blame them!

Themes….

what do you think? I changed the theme here. Not sure how long this one will stay up. I like it but I’m not sure this is “it”. :)

Not changing it tonight though. Long couple weeks at work, I’m less than 2 hours shy of 80 hours with a whole day left in the pay period (and there was a HOLIDAY in this pay period!). I am TIRED and going to bed! OK, I know I say that often and don’t actually make it but I’m at least thinking about it.

My daughter and some of her friends have been having a blast, creating a band and doing covers for YouTube. Here is one of the first they posted. :)

What do you do

When someone just simply annoys you with every breath, yet you must continue to have dealings with this person?

I simply have to deal with it so I need develop some strategies to keep from being negative while working with a personality that I find extremely difficult. I can’t just internal all that negative energy, way to destructive to any person too that.

What strategies do you have?

Just sayin…….

If you want to work with kids, please understand that they are not all the same. That is all. Thank you!

The Android app is installed. Works well but I will have to be very careful of autocorrect. Or just shut it off……
Off to get ready for work after peeking in on my Sleeping Beauties.

Sunday evening

Already. Why is it the weekend has to fly by? Really nice weekend (even though on call). Only scheduled event was a birthday party my middle daughter had been invited to. It was at Children’s Museum of Evansville. Since CMoE is so close to EVPL’s Central Library, we all piled in the van and headed downtown. Dropped P off at her party and everyone else spend an hour and a half relaxing at the library. Hoping next weekend is as stress free. Perhaps we can fit in a trip to the zoo. The weekend after that though…..back to crazy. USATF district (State) track meet. We’ll be heading up to Noblesville Indiana in support of the Evansville Speedsters track club and especially our 12 year old Speedster. :)
Now though? Time to lose myself in one of those books I picked up at the library yesterday!

Summer

Posted on

This summer is set to be full of new experiences for us.  Matt is working for himself at ATPClothing and coaching young (or any) runners.  He left his “traditional” job of working for others in February, after we became debt free except for the house.  While this has significantly reduced our income, it also decreased our expenses.  AND it allowed us to finally take the kids out of after school and summer care.  (those things being the 2 biggest expenses….along with gas traveling to all the Owensboro area territory he covered for his job)

The kids are going to have a lot of adjusting to do.  They are used to going to summer day camp and being constantly on the go with that.

Matt has to figure out how to work with the girls there all the time.  And how to feed them more than nutella/marshallow fluff sandwiches and ramen noodles.  :)

Me, I am STILL having to beat down that jealousy that keeps popping up that it is my job that we needed to keep to be able to have the kids home.  It’s very hard some mornings to get ready for work and to leave while the girls are asleep and Matt’s in his pj’s still.  Even harder when I know they have a fun outing planned for the day.

I just have to keep it in perspective.  If we want them home and we want to keep them in thier current school, this is the sacrifice.  I think it is worth it.  Even on the depressingly hard days….
